This painting, titled "Chasing the Storm" is a derived from a familiar image from my childhood. North Alabama is right in the path of tornado alley, and it wasn't unusual to see storm cellars dug out of the hillsides out behind people's houses. I personally never spent any time in one, and am so glad I didn't. I'm thinking spiders and all kinds of unknown sqirmy things in the dark.
But the image of the storm itself has its own power and beauty. |
